Errandia

This is where the Myrmidons of Lilliput live. They follow Queen Lilliput's every whim unquestioningly. They perform errands and toil long, hard hours to satisfy her.
Their homes are constructed of hardened sand...kind of like adobe. There are posters depicting Queen Lilliput around every corner as well as a few of the Vizier. All of the homes are very small - usually only one room. The Myrmidons that are the most devoted and hard working get to stay in the homes with running water from the small underground streams. The sun is very hot on the village so the Myrmidons often compete with each other for the coolest locations.
The Myrmidons keep busy by breeding camels for travel in the desert where they collect gourds and other goods for the village. Some Myrmidons are assigned work such as the routine maintenance of the pyramid whos stuffy, dank and dark passages smell of hot clay and sage and whos corridors echo with strange whispers while other Myrmidons are assigned to the marina that always smells of fresh fish and tangled nets. Most of the villagers spend their lives fishing to provide food for others. There are also several artisans in Errandia whom make bread and pottery.
In general, life in Errandia seems dismal. They often feel nonchalant and keep trudging forward without much complaint.
In Errandia, the government is like their religion - Queen Lilliput IS the government. In the center of the village is where meetings are held and where the alarm is sounded to signal the start of another work day. It is also where young children are sent for training...their education consists primarily of absorbing the local propaganda.
When the children are out of school, they enjoy combing the shore for any treasures that may wash up from the underwater empire. They are taught that mermaids are mythological creatures and that the jewels they find are merely precious stones from the caverns in the sea. When the adults aren't watching, some of the youngest children play in the waters as though they are mer-folk. Many of the parents wish they could tell their children about the magic of the mer-folk but they are afraid to defy Queen Lilliput. They hope that a mermaid will make herself known to the children someday so that they may know that dreams are real.
On days when the ocean waves are stormy and the sea gulls cry, some Myrmidons look sadly out to sea from their doorways - they know there is hope.
