Errandia

The Myrmidons inhabit Errandia. They follow Queen Lilliput's every whim unquestioningly. They toil long, hard hours to satisfy her.

Their homes are constructed of adobe. All of the homes are very small - usually only one room. The Myrmidons that are the most devoted and hard working get to stay in the rooms with the private fireplaces and running water from the small underground streams. The sun is very hot on the village so the Myrmidons often compete with each other for the coolest locations and the best rooms. But no matter where one lives, there are posters depicting Queen Lilliput and the vizier around every corner.

The Myrmidons breed camels and other animals.

Some Myrmidons travel in the desert where they collect gourds and other goods for the village.

Others are assigned work such as the routine maintenance of the pyramid whos stuffy, dank and dark passages smell of hot clay and sage and whos corridors echo with strange whispers.

Fishermen are assigned to Marina Bay which always smells like salt and tangled nets. These villagers spend their lives fishing to provide food for themselves and others.

There are also several artisans in Errandia whom make bread and pottery.

In Errandia, the government is like their religion - Queen Lilliput IS the government.

In the center of the village is where meetings are held and where the alarm is sounded to signal the start of another work day. It is also where young children are sent for training...their education consists primarily of absorbing the local propaganda that the government put into place.

When the children are out of school, they enjoy combing the shore for any treasures that may wash up from the underwater empire. They are taught that mermaids are mythological creatures and that the jewels they find are merely precious stones from the caverns in the sea. When the adults aren't watching, some of the youngest children pretend to be mer-folk. Many of the parents wish that they could tell them that mermaids are real but they are afraid to defy Queen Lilliput. They hope that a mermaid will make herself known to the children someday.

On days when the ocean waves are stormy and the sea gulls cry, some Myrmidons look sadly out to sea from their doorways - they know there is hope in the distance.
